Basic First Aids For Pets According To Emergency Vet

Giving your pets first aid when you feel like they are sick is not as easy as it seems. Where to start? What to do? Is this the proper way to it?

You should call a vet immediately, if you feel like there’s something wrong with your pet. For those who are around New York area, you can call Brian Manor’s Emergency Vet clinic 24/7 they are available. They can be reached anytime.

Here are some tips on how to do the first aid.

First off, taking the temperature. So can you do it? Lubricate a rectal thermometer with Vaseline or a K-Y jelly then gently insert it to your pets anus just about 1-2 inches inside it.
You can also use an ear thermometer so it will be easier for you. The normal temperature is
101-102ºF.  If your pet has a high temperature, most likely the sickness is caused by an infection. However, heavy exercise, excitement or laying in the sun on a hot day can cause false elevations. Subnormal readings can indicate weakness and lethargy, but don't be fooled by cold weather or after-nap chills.
